Weekly Portfolio Performance Update
Each week we take a snapshot of how all 13 asset allocation strategies tracked on this site have performed, based on the latest data pulled from our daily update pipeline. This recurring post is meant to give a quick, no-narrative pulse check rather than a deep dive — for the full historical backtest of any individual strategy, head to its dedicated strategy page.
Over the trailing one-year window, equity-heavy strategies such as the Warren Buffett Portfolio and the 80/20 Portfolio have generally led the pack during periods of strong stock market performance, while more defensive strategies such as the Permanent Portfolio and All Weather Portfolio have lagged during the same stretches but historically fall much less during equity drawdowns. This trade-off — smoother ride versus higher long-run growth — is the central theme running through every strategy on this site, and it's the reason we show risk-adjusted metrics like Sharpe and Sortino ratios alongside raw returns rather than ranking strategies purely by total return.
As always, treat any single week or month of relative performance as noise rather than signal. The value of a long backtest is seeing how a strategy behaves across many different market regimes, not how it did last week.
